About Us

One of the strengths of the Casa Suíça is the pastry with its own confectionary. Among our pastry delicatessen, the highlight goes to the pastel de nata (cream pastry), bolo rei (king cake) and the French croissant, which, curiously, was introduced in Portugal by this pastry store itself, and is its the bestselling cake. It relies on a team of 80 experienced workers who monitor the quality of the products with a unique service. In summer, you can visit our terrace and taste our ice cream. We also serve quick meals and accept orders of festive cakes.  Open 7am-9:30pm.

History of the Pastry Store

Created on March 18, 1922, it began its operations as a store "pastry, dairy and its by-products."

With the 2nd World War, Lisbon became the crossing point of the various interests in the conflict, which allowed, given its exceptional location and intelligent responsiveness of young top management, to become the meeting and recreation point of some of the thousands of refugees seeking or awaiting the most diverse destinations.

It was awarded the Diploma of Honour and Gold Medal at the First National Exhibition of Confectionery and Pastry, in 1956, with Honours in the Competition "Bolo Henriquino" (Henriquino Cake) in April de 1961.

In the eighties, a complete refurbishment was undertaken, gaining more space and investing in other market segments, such as the snack bar, ice cream parlour and a "self-service"
coffee shop.
Today it remains as a privileged meeting point.
